for hundreds of years now in a Bulgarian town called Brodilovo, an ancient ritual called "trichane na kuche" or dog spinning in English, is performed every beginning of march allegedly to prevent rabies and keep away the bad spirits of springtime.
Local animal rights and welfare groups vainly campaigned against this ritual for years
